A zine-making workshop exploring fashion & SB 707 through talking and makingThe California Product Stewardship Council (CPSC) and Fashion Is Outrageous (FIO) are working in collaboration to deepen awareness and drive proactive participation in SB 707: California Responsible Textile Recovery Act 2024. This workshop was hosted at Little City Farm in Los Angeles as a part of LA Climate Week 2026.
Our Design For Compliance℠: Textile EPR In California workshop brought together brands, designers, buyers, upcyclers, waste diverters, policymakers and researchers together to improve a diversity of thought and build real pathways for circularity. It acknowledges multiple ways of knowing, and the value of difference through the exchange of knowledge between a range of stakeholders. This workshop has been adapted from co-created pedagogy developed at University of the Arts London.
The workshop was facilitated by Gabrielle Miller and Kestrel Jenkins of FIO and Dr. Joanne Brasch of CPSC, with support from Tosin Folorunso, PhD Candidate in Environmental Science, Policy & Management at UC Berkeley.
We commissioned Bay Area-based artist Audrey Grover to join us and illustrate an artwork that represents a knowledge landscape and community of experiences, and capture complex ideas and conversations through creative, beautiful and engaging visuals. The artwork captures an art-driven visual recording (data collection) of the nuanced conversations that took place during the in-person workshop.
